This is a Suncoast Boat of the Year Regatta.
2017 marks the 82nd anniversary of the oldest running sailboat race on the west coast of Florida! The Davis Island Egmont Key race is both a DIYC and Suncoast BOTY event. There is short course for smaller boats that will stay inside the Skyway Bridge, but still offer a challenging course. The long course will go “around” Egmont key, once again qualifying the race for the prestigious Wall perpetual trophy. All racers can look forward to the traditional DIYC event at the club to finish off the race. This event is both a DIYC and Suncoast BOTY event.

A one day event with buoy races for spinnaker and a distance course for others. All spinnaker boats under 30 feet on the buoy course are competing for the Frank Selph Memorial Trophy. Frank was an avid MORC supporter and this trophy is awarded in his honor. This event is both a DIYC and Suncoast BOTY event. It marks the end of the fall racing schedule.

INVITATION
You are invited to participate, and we think you will like what we have planned!
We are doing some things differently:
We believe you shouldn’t have to leave home before dawn to go sailing, so the starting times are more civilized.
We will not require you to attend a skippers meeting on Friday evening, as the Sailing Instructions will be available online at least a week ahead.
We have Race Officers on both courses, and they have pledged to coordinate so that most boats arrive back at DIYC after racing within a reasonable time window.
Saturday dinner will be served no more than 90 minutes after most boats dock. You will not have to wait until some later, fixed time! It is priced low enough to make it easy for your team to stay and eat. Live music will enhance the party.
Dinner menu: Cuban Chef Table – 1905 Salad, Cuban Bread & Butter, Spanish Yellow Rice,
Black Beans, Ham Hock, Red Onions, Pulled Mojo Pork, Ropa Vieja and Tres Leches Cake.
We have some special treats planned for your crew when you arrive back at the dock.
Docking at DIYC is free. You are welcome to bring tents, RVs (with a reservation), campers, or to sleep on your boat. The pool house restrooms and hot showers will be open to all.
