Race Committee Training: Mark Boat Operator

Have you ever wanted to use your powerboat to support racing? Have you ever wanted to find a way to volunteer for the race committee without “calling the shots?” On Saturday, 17th August, DIYC invites you to join the race committee training focused on introducing and improving mark boat skills.

From proper technique to setting an inflatable mark (hint: not throwing everything overboard and hoping the anchor holds) to communicating wind observations to the Principal Race Officer, come join Kat and Henry for a morning on the finer points of operating a mark boat. The class will begin at 0900 and end at 1200.

When: 17 August 0900-1200

What you need to bring (can buy at sporting goods stores or borrow from a friend):

-a handheld GPS

-a hand-bearing compass

What you’ll learn: how to be in the right place at the right time (a much coveted skill!)

What you’ll walk away with: confidence to join the race committee
