2010-2011 Boat of the YearNOTICE OF SERIES The organizing authority for this series is the Davis Island Yacht Club. The series is governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing and the Class Rules of WFPHRF. ELIGIBILITY This Series is open to all boats owned by DIYC members with valid WFPHRF certificates & current membership in US Sailing. SCHEDULE
DIVISIONS – BASED ON WFPHRF RATINGS PHRF Class Breaks: In an effort to provide ‘like racing’ under PHRF, boat displacement and other factors will be considered when determining class breaks. Class breaks are intended to follow the format for the WFPHRF BOTY Series if at least three boats are entered in each class. In the event that less than three boats are registered in each class, boats will be assigned a class by the Fleet Captain in consultation with the Black Flag and the decision is final and is not subject to a request for redress. Classes for the 2008-09 year series are as follows:
SCORING This is a High Point Series with each boat receiving 5 points for participating in an event and one point for each DIYC boat beaten. Points will be scored on a per race basis. There will be double points awarded for the Labor Day Night Race, Egmont Key Race & DIYC Classic. DISCARDS
The number of discards will equal 20% of the number of races sailed (.5 will round up). There are approximately 17 races scheduled, this would result in 3 discards. Discarding of the Labor Day Night Race, Egmont Key Race or DIYC Classic will require the use of 2 discards. |
