New and old sailors alike gather on our beautiful Hillsborough Bay for a tradition unlike any other. Davis Islands' "Full Moon Series" continues our popular weeknight racing through the winter months. To join a boat, visit the yacht club bar on Thursday night and let the staff know you are "crew looking for boat." Whether you have experience or not, invited guests are welcome to visit and participate to learn more about sailing. The club bar is open (accepting credit cards) and pub grub and meals are available (members receive discounted rates). Racing begins at 1900.
Registration, NOR, and Sailing Instructions
The ATP Race loosely follows our DIYC series formula of starting and finishing at DIYC. Part of the DIYC BOTY Series. Limited breakfast menu will be available.

“Come Hell or high water” was the phrase used by our first regatta chair, Brian Malone. This distance race is held in Hillsborough Bay, but don’t assume it is just an afternoon cruise. Test your navigation skills and plan to race even if the weather pipes up. This time of year is prone to fronts. In the internet age, most race decisions are made at the bar watching radar. You can plan to race this one to hone your heavy weather skills, so don’t shy away if there is a blow. Part of the DIYC BOTY Series. Limited breakfast menu will be available.
Race Documents and Registration
Like the traditions of the Morgan Invasion, the Tampa Bay Hospice Cup appeals to both cruisers and racers. In addition to the traditional Morgan Invasion fleets, the regatta also features open non-Morgan fleets for PHRF, and a “Just-for-Fun” casual fleet. All proceeds will benefit Tampa Bay area Hospice organizations, which offer comprehensive hospice and palliative care, caregiver education, individual and group counseling, spiritual support and many other programs to those it serves regardless of race, age, faith, diagnosis, or financial circumstances.
All boats, including Just For Fun Fleet: $125.00 tax-deductible donation to Tampa Bay Hospice Cup payable in RegattaNetwork plus sales tax, which includes one (1) Mount Gay red hat, one (1) t-shirt and drinks from our generous in-kind sponsors including Mount Gay Rum. Additional shirts ($35) and dinner tickets ($20) may be purchased through RegattaNetwork.
Grab a partner and join us for double-handed race. The goal is not to win but to still be talking after the race!
1400
Follows the Sunday Race format.
We are looking forward to hosting a great race weekend to share with clubs around the South here at Davis Island Yacht Club. There is a maximum of 50 competitors in each of the Green and RWB fleets and a max of 25 in 420 and 25 in Laser.
Information and Registration
This distance race replaces Ft Myers as our destination race to wrap up the BOTY season. Preparations have been 2 years in the making. Both the race and the party should be one to remember. Venice Yacht Club is an eager partner for the awards party in this soon-to-be classic. It is only 50 miles, so just a day race along the coast. This shorter distance should encourage smaller boats to participate.
